This is a sampling of the Chessie & Me collection! Delightfully small, detailed samplers, each is stitched over two linen threads, but always features areas stitched over one thread as well. There are always special stitches in them... the little flag design is full of them! Pretty colors, nice verses... enjoy these we've stitched in the shop!

Chessie's Fern Pin Cushion and Fob

Well... this is the sweetest little kitty... sitting innocently underneath the fern... it must be a different kitty that would catch the bird and bring it in the house!!! Chessie & Me has several new designs, this cushion and fob are just one. Stitched on the softest and most yummy 32ct Vintage Maple Sugar Lakeside Linen hand-dyed in Belle Soie silks of Old Crow blacks, greys, and Kiwi and Beanstalk greens, the fern is Straight-Stitched (Lazy Daisy would be fun, too), Chessie's rug features Satin Stitched edges.

Strawberry Banke

'Strive to excel in every useful skill' (Talk about setting the bar kind of high!) Just focus on your stitching talents for this charming 5 x 5 piece... and you'll be fine! Lots of one-over-one detail in the windows, little Chessie the cat, and that urn in the garden.

Tree is Lazy Daisy, the 4-Sided can be pulled a little -- it's the darker frame around the house panel of the piece -- kind of cool -- it 'divides' to accent the strawberry vine! Offered as the chart, this is stitched in DMCs, Crescent Colours and Week's hand-dyed cottons. There is a cute miniature version of this sampler as well -- offered as a tiny 2 x 2 magnet!

Botanical Sewing Pocket and Fob

Here's a pretty 4 x 5 sewing case with a Springtime appeal -- it's stitched on 30ct Straw/Grey Hand-dyed Gingham linen, which has a steel-blue hint of color to it. A lazy alphabet scattered among a few botanicals, the border and predominent color of this is Weeks Cadet.

Offered as the chart with finishing instructions, there isn't much stitching on this... the gingham pattern already on the fabric makes it look like you fussed a lot more than you did!! The tiny matching fob measures approx 2 x 2. Sweet!

Americana Chessie, Strawberry Banke, and Chessie's Fern, Linda makes miniature images of her stitched pieces onto that soft magnetic 'paper'... and paints them with 8 layers of sealer, sanding a bit in between. Her result are these charming magnets -- miniature replicas of her work!

Rabbit Run Cushion and Fob

Just a sweet 8-sided cushion featuring running rabbits and a coordinating carrot fob... a few Smryna Crosses, but not involved.

Offered as the chart, it finishes approx 4-1/2 inches in size, with fob a mere 2 x 2.

Busy Bee Tuffet

This is not new... but deserves a second look anyway!!! A delightful biscornu-shaped pin cushion, this is fun because the entire background of the top piece is stitched with 1/2 stitches in hand-dyed green, and decorated with 'stitched' roses that are really just couched coils of floss.

It's absolutely charming... and I LOVE it every time I see the stitched model at the shows! The coordinating fob is a bee hive that is SOLID Smryna stitches! It looks cool, because the stitch treatment is unusual, and the pink and purple flowers really stand out atop those green half stitches. I keep going back to this piece... I think it's quite colorful and unique!

Pumpkin Stack

Chessie & Me has a cute stack of pumpkins -- it's stitched on Lakeside Linen's 32ct Vintage River Willow Linen with Crescent's Belle Soie silks of Paprika, Pumpkin Carriage, Oatmeal Scone.. I just love the color names! Anyway, just a wisp of a thing, the crow is stitched with Smryna Crosses for extra body, while the pumpkins are all Satin Stitches.

The hand-dyed thread just changes color here and there... and makes everything look awesome! We finished our model into a 3-1/2 inch ornament, but you could make a small cube stand-up, frame it, just anything. Offered as the complete kit of chart, linen, and silks.

Hearth and Home

Linda's classic stone and mortar house with a log cabin upper story... I think I could live here!!! Lovely as a piece to hang in your guest room or foyer, this is stitched on Weeks 30ct Confederate Gray in Weeks, GAST and Crescent overdyed flosses. Lots of Satin Stitches and a few Smryna Crosses, the verse is over one on this piece.
Finishing approx 5 x 7-1/2, I love the colors and that lush pumpkin vine overtaking the landscape!!! Offered as the chart.

Hearth & Home Magnet
Chessie has done all her pieces in miniature magnets! This is number 27 in the set... all approx 1 x 2 or 2 x 3 miniature scans of Chessie's stitching... they are then decoupaged onto magnetic material... and presented to you as a fun, useable magnet! Scroll down to see lots more magnets.

Patriotic Pumpkins

Oh, this is a sweet piece originally published in 2002! Using a lot of Horizontal Satin and Smyrna Crosses, this tiny 3-1/2 inch piece is stitched with bits of DMC and floss...

Nothing super un-ordinary... I thought it was unusually endearing! Offered as a small chart.

Not Forgotten Sampler

Linda has designed a gentle piece that is stitched entirely in Gentle Art's Simply Wool thread! Very Primitive in flavor, the wool threads add a softness and age to the colors that silk and cotton do not.

Finishing approx 11 x 16, regular cross stitches, 32ct linen, VERY authentic in colonial color and feel!

Reminds me of The Hermitage in Nashville! Offered as a chart.

Acorn Necessaire

This is a delightful little case that features a squirrel on the front, scattered acorns on the back, and the set of JABCO acorn stick pins tucked inside!!!

Actually not a lot of stitching, or heavy-duty finishing involved... the whole thing is simple and really cute! Those pins inside are a real treat!

There is a sleeve of wool for scissors, and a leaf for needles. Very *finishable!*

Three Sheep Sampler

Chessie & Me has several new releases... and I think this one is my favorite! I just love how she takes a normal picture and adds little specialty stitches all over in it... so that as you keep looking at it... you keep finding them! Stitched on Weeks 30ct Straw Linen in overdyed flosses... those rolling hills are stitched in Satin Stitches with a row of cross stitches between the color changes. The color changes in the floss add SO MUCH activity to those hills -- definitely the focal point of the piece.

Next, the cottage roof is stitched over 6 threads, using Old Purple Paint Sampler Thread, and is entirely made of buttonhole stitches. It looks just like a thatched roof!!! The little sheepies have Eyelets scattered all over them -- makes their wool coat bumpy! The cottage walls are cross stitched, but irregular satin stitch 'stones' interrupt them! And then, there is that irregular Long Arm Cross and Saw Tooth border going on... this is *charming!!!* Offered as the chart, it finishes approx 5 x 10-1/2 on the overdyed.

Cherry Hill Sampler

This is quite a pretty little piece... it comes in chart format WITH the cut of Weeks Dye Works 30ct Dove Linen. A lovely medium-sage-green fabric, this is stitched in DMC solids and Weeks hand-dyed flosses. Rich, soft colors, the cherries are Round Rhodes stitched over 8 threads... (and I THINK there are green cherries scattered in the yard!)

Verse reads: 'This work in hand my friends may see, For them I've stitched a memory.' Finishes approx 5 x 6-1/2... cute!

Summer Alphabet Sampler

A busy bee skep -- stitched in all sort of Smyrnas, Satins and Crosses -- surrounded by turbo-roses -- this is kind of a fun, primitive piece! Stitched on Weeks 35ct Parchment Linen in overdyeds, it finishes approx 4 x 8. I like the occasional interruptions on the border.

Think about changing out the alphabet in the center to your initials... add another bee ... over one would be fun...! Offered as the chart.

Just the kitty under the flower... the leaves are all Smyrna Crosses, and the dark red area in the flower is all Eyelet! (That center Eyelet is over 6 threads!)

Chessie & Me's newest sampler has the flavor of autumn bursting everywhere! The gnarly oak tree is home to acorns and a haven to a trio of mischievous squirrels all balancing on that branch over the house. Pumpkins in the yard, and of course, Chessie-the-kitty laying in waiting for those squirrels, this whole thing stitches into a 5 x 7-1/2 inch sampler.

Weeks 30ct Confederate Gray linen is included with the chart... you add the flosses. As always, lots of Satins, Scotch, Smyrnas, and Eyelets in here... it's really fun to see special stitches *worked into* the design rather than simply be border or row stitches. They define the shutters, pumpkins and acorns! Linda always does a miniature sampler magnet of her pieces... we put it in the pic! This brings her magnet collection up to 24!!! Something fun to enjoy right NOW... before the sampler is even stitched!!!

Sweet Potato, Guacamole, Deep Sea, Dolphin, Chestnut and Onyx... the colors are awesome, the design very flowing and classic.

Where Stitching Leads...

My heart gladly follows! Chessie & Me's newest sampler design, this has a summer flavor to it, I think, because of the flag and all the stars, the black birds and the beehive. Offered as the chart, this is worked on 30ct Cream Assisi Linen -- which is included in the package. A super-heavy quality fabric, you will be using only ONE strand of floss and Tent Stitches (1/2 of the cross stitch) to get the desired weathered effect on the house.

Worked in DMC and overdyed flosses, there are lots of satin and scotch stitches in here -- roof and beeskep. Lazy Daisies form the leaves, and you can make some of them overlap the roof, if you want! There are Smryna and Eyelet stitches scattered throughout, and the flag is worked one over one! Finishing approx 6 x 8, I just love Linda's things, because little Chessie the Cat is always tucked in somewhere, and while you're looking for him, you find all the stitch details! Charming!

The Journey

'The Journey begins with a single stitch.' I believe this piece commemorates an Embroider's Guild event... so you'll need to celebrate your own event... but what a neat thing to stitch for a best friend in your stitch group?

The River Glideth

Wow, this is a neat piece! Very much an 'antique riverboat town' feel to me... we are so seldom treated to river, or riverboat themes! With pretty Rhodes, Flame and Smryna Stitches, the boat wheel is a giant Eyelet Stitch over 20 threads. Finishing approx 4 x 9 on 32ct, this uses lots of rich overdyeds of blues, greens, golds and reds.

I can't find Chessie's trademark kitty over one in here... so add it on the shore beneath the tree, if you want! Now, about that mermaid, I didn't know rivers came with them... but anything is possible, I guess! A little more charm for the water scene! Offered as the chart.

Liberty Star Sampler

One of three releases by Chessie & Me... Liberty Star Sampler features lots of Chessie's one-over-one details, Trellis and Smryna Crosses to add texture and interest, and of course that little signature-kitty, who's always stitched over one.

Measuring approx 5-1/2 x 7, this is stitched on R & R's handyed 30ct Old Mill Java linen. Although the pic on the leaflet has a light blue cast to it... the linen provided in the pattern by Chessie and R & R is brown! Very cute, this is offered as the chart, and the Java linen.

Summer Sampler

More pretty stitches, the pineapple above the door, soft overdyeds, this is a charming little house-on-the-hill type of piece. Offered as the chart with 32ct Ligonier Latte R & R hand-dyed linen included, it has a lot of stitch texture in it's minute 4 x 4 size! Charming!

Bittersweet & Pumpkins Sampler

The next in Chessie's endearing farm house scenes, Bittersweet is stitched on a delicious piece of 32ct Dye Pot Blend R & R hand-dyed linen. It's a rich golden color that accentuates the overdyed flosses called for.

Finishing approx 5-1/2 x 6, it's full of one-over-one detail, and Smryna Crosses -- both regular and elongated. The pumpkins are in the yard, the kitty is on the roof.. darling as always! The chart includes the fabric!

1890 House Sampler

Oh, is this just the cutest thing!! That row of sheep is so attentive... even the little black one!!! Stitched on your choice of Olive Green colored linen... a 28ct will make this finish approx 7-1/2 x 11 inches. So, so many details make this a special piece... the pine trees are stitched in Juniper overdyed using satin stitches OR Weeks Juniper felted wool is appliqued on, instead... or even a mixture of the two! (Up to you!)

Each sheep features bumpy Rhodes stitches on his belly... and that black one is, again, Weeks Wool! (But you could make the white ones wool, and stitch the dark one...) Another of Chessie neat house designs that looks so traditionally American in flavor. Black Crow, Black Raspberry Jam, Gold Leaf, Grape Leaf, Maple Syrup and Mulberry... I just love the colors in this! I especially like that patriotic pot of flowers with the flag... pull that out and stitch it individually! Merry Christmas Sampler

Here's a very traditional design that reminds me so much of a cozy quilted coverlet type of thing. Stitched on 32ct, it measures just 8 x 6 and is worked in Dark Chocolate, Maple Syrup, Mulberry, Juniper and Chamomile overdyeds -- just the color names are fun! Festive reindeer between an evergreen border, it proclaims Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Wouldn't it be pretty finished into a quilted door banner? Available as a chart.

Holly House
A tiny house design, this measures just 3-1/2 inches square stitched on 32ct linen. Pretty overdyeds, I especially like it because my initials are the same as the designer's... so there are my initials, right there on the stitched piece!!! Independence House Sampler

Here's a festive, patriotic farmhouse full of Chessie charm! Lots of one-over-one stitch detail and special stitches, this is worked on 32ct hand-dyed Lone Star Linen from R & R Reproductions. (Sometimes the linen has 'splotches' on it... but both R & R and Chessie want that, and have chosen the linen pieces because of it. They're looking for an authentic, old, flavor.) Finishing a mere 5 x 5 on the linen, you supply the Weeks Dye Works and DMC flosses.

Stitched on a dark brown 28ct linen, the pine trees in this piece are really wool felt cut out and appliqued onto the needlework. Lots of overdyed color for the weathered cabin boards... some beehives and cats out in the yard... and those neat trees... this is an unusual piece! Available in a chart.

Liberty House Sampler

Where liberty dwells, there is my home. That's the verse displayed over a tall, thin red farmhouse that's edged with fluffy pine trees. Soft red, green and grey overdyeds, it's stitched on a special cut of 32ct Chessie's Mill hand-dyed linen, and finishes approx 5 x 5. Lots of fun stitches and tiny detail! Garden Gathering

A delightful little garden scene, it's full of Chessie's traditional bumblebees, always a flag somewhere, and teeny specialty stitches to add lots of texture and points of interest! Preserve Liberty

A wonderful set of spindly trees, primitive star borders, and a clapboard house, the basic design of this sampler is really very simple. Upon studying the chart... that little house is full of different special stitches that make up each of the ten clapboards!!!

Really cool! It uses overdyeds in Schneckely, Cherry Bark, and lots of regular mosses and taupes, and finishes approx 18 x 7" on any 26ct linen. Available as a chart.

Let Freedom Ring

A red brick schoolhouse is featured on this design... along with a couple of special stitches. Finishing approx 6 x 8" on 32ct hand-dyed Chessie's Mill Linen from R & R Reproductions, this chart includes your piece of fabric.

Door County II Sampler

Here's a nautical-themed sampler-style picture featuring a sailboat in a small inlet... protected by a lighthouse. The border of waves is stitched in Chesapeake Blue overdyed floss, and the rest of the piece shares both Weeks Dye Works and Gentle Art Sampler Threads colors. Really charming, the alphabet is stitched over one thread, while there are special stitches complementing the lighthouse, sail, and trees. Finishing approx 5 x 6-1/2," the 32ct hand-dyed "Chessie's Mill" linen by R & R Reproductions is included in the chartpack! Just stunning!

Liberty For All
Here's something wonderful we've 'unearthed' in our move! Now that we have a little more room in the shop to display things, we remembered how neat this design is! Stitched over one thread on 32ct natural linen, in rich overdyed reds, burgundy, deep blues, creme and golds... this is a tiny flag worked in special stitches! Finishing a mere 2-1/4 x 3", our little brick is finished into a bitty 2 x 3 x 4"! The stripes on the flag alternate between satin, scotch, smyrna crosses, eyelets and algerian eyes, rice, cross, and straight stitches! It's just exquisite, and available as a chart!

Blessings Of The Bee
This is a delightful scene of a beekeeper's cottage, and hives! Parts of the design are stitched over one thread of linen, for extra detail, and most of it is stitched in lavender, gold, sage, and creme overdyed flosses. It's a charming design, talking about the bees yielding natures treasure -- their honey! Very pretty for a kitchen, or garden room, it finishes 3-1/2 x 9" on 32ct... and is available as a chart.
