Daylight Company This is a wonderful line of very reasonably priced magnifying lamps! Developed and marketed in England for the past 10 years, these are finally available in the USA! They are nice looking, feature heavy-weighted bases, and strong table clamps. The light is wonderful -- like daylight!!! Each lamp features a "gooseneck" type arm that is easy to steer in the direction that's best for you.
Twist Portable Lamp The Daylight Company has a new lamp... a table-top model, that is REALLY NICE! Very portable, it weighs about 2 pounds, and when closed, measures approx 3-1/2 inches in diameter (it's round!!!) and stands approx 12 inches high. Flip open the shade... that's how the light turns on. Light is there, and directed DOWN at your work area. NOW, you have the additional option of tilting the shade to direct the light towards you, or away! The entire lamp even swivels on its small round base! The daylight color-balanced light gives you better color-matching capabilities and reduces eye-strain. Daylight bulbs use 80% less energy than other fluorescents and incandescents, last longer, and feature low-heat technology... so neither you nor your needlework are 'cooking' under it!!! Freedom Rechargeable Battery Lamp New from The Daylight Company, is this compact table lamp that can be run off its rechargeable battery, as well as plugged into the wall! Styled just like their classic table lamp that flips open, this one comes in a silver-colored plastic casing. (These always remind me of a big block of Velveeta Cheese!!!) Great features, its really designed as a travel light, and weighs only 3-1/2 pounds with the battery in. (lighter without the battery, when you plug it in.) Offering approx 3-1/2 hours of Daylight light from the battery, the bulb is an energy-saving daylight tube (13 watts) that is the equivalent to a 75 watt incandescent. There is a battery charge indicator light, so you know when it needs charging, or doesn't, and it features a easy-to-grab carrying handle. Simply flip up the lid... and the light automatically comes on! Nice little light!

The best part, however, is the glass, 7-inch, 3-diopter (1.75x magnification) lens. Absolutely incredible to work with... the lens is bigger than the standard 5-inch. Because of the 7-inch size, the lens is curved less, so your view has less distortion. The lamp offers a 'quick-swap' design to change between the optional 5 diopter (2.25x), 8 diopter (3.3x) and 12 diopter (4x) lenses, too. The Daylight White Table Lamp This is a great smaller alternative to the floor lamp style! Perfect for traveling... we're expecting a lot of these to show up at this fall's Camp Wannasew Weekends! A smaller, more portable alternative to a Dazor, these have been Silver Needle Customer favorites since they first became available! Each lamp features a disk base -- very heavy -- that has a magnifying lense and light fixture, both on fully adjustable gooseneck arms. Each of these simply fit into the base, and remove easily to pack and take with you. The light is a wonderful, clear, daylight color, and since the shade covers the bulb, you can direct the light right onto your work. The bulb will not glare across the room into anyone else's eyes! Portable Magnifiers These are the handiest gadgets to have! Small, lightweight, powerful magnifiers, they feature either a clamp or weighted table base. Available in the mini-size, which I think is just the coolest thing, or slightly larger, every stitch bag, and stitcher needs one! Our best-selling mini-magnifier is now available on a tiny base! Joining the clip-on version, this is the BEST little gadget to have tucked in your bag! The lens: 3-1/2" in diameter and a powerful 5-diopter, is mounted on an 8" gooseneck arm, and features a flat, weighted base. Very well balanced, it's petite, and SO handy for so many things!
The Flexilens table base model #U90946, or clamp model #U90942, feature an 18" flexible gooseneck arm, with a 5" diameter lense, and 3-diopter magnification. It's a little larger than the mini-style... but still perfect for a small stitching area. The clamp style base (not shown here) is small and light enough to travel with... while I think the weighted base model is too heavy to carry every day in your stitching tote. So get two... one for home, and one for "off-site" stitching!
The Mini Clip-on style features a 7" long gooseneck, with a 3 1/2" diameter lens. The magnification is 2.25X -- 5 diopter, the clamp is super strong, and it weighs about the same as a TV remote control. Stretched out end to end... it measures only 12"! Model #91151 features a 10-inch long flexi-arm on the same clamp base.
The Compact Lamp, Model #U33050, is the original Ott lite! A great design, it reminds me of a block of Velveeta cheese when it's closed! Simply flip up the top, and the light comes on. It's wonderful because the bulb is shaded from your eyes, and points the light directly onto your working area.
