*I am IN LOVE with this thread!!!* DMC has finally started shipping their new line of Memory Thread... so we have *some* of the colors, and are waiting for the rest to arrive. Basically, Color Infusions isn't a *thread* at all... it is a very soft copper wire that has been covered by cotton and rayon thread!

You can't *stitch* with it... but you can tack it down -- known as 'Couching.' AB Designs has used it in a few of her new releases... so you can see various applications for it. Curl it around a pencil to get a fun coil, play with that a little, and tack it down to get swirls all over something! Use it as an outline somewhere!

DO NOT use your good Dovo or Gingher scissors to cut this -- as it has wire inside! (Use our little colored titanium ones for that!) Anyway, designed to appeal to the scrapbook industry... we stitchers like this thread too! GET CREATIVE, this is cool stuff! Available in 12 colors (our black and white are on Backorder!) Offered by the individual color on little plastic cards, in a 3-yard length.

Colors available are: Gold Metallic, Silver Metallic, Brown (898), Red (347), Orange (720), Fuschia (601), Yellow (728), Light Green (704), Green (911), and Turquoise (3846.)

Every few years, DMC updates their Thread Color Card. A big fold-out reference aid, the 2008 Issue is here. A sad sign of the times this time, however, is that we are no longer treated to actual thread samples... only color images of each. An unbelievable and happy sign of the times, however, is that the price has gone DOWN from $20 to $10... and that's GREAT!!!!!

This 9 x 12 heavy cardboard 'catalog of threads' -- printed in English, French and Spanish -- unfolds to reveal 10 inside pages that introduce each of the 8 different kinds of threads DMC produces. Along with the 'care and feeding' of your threads, it lists every color and tells you which kinds of threads include it in their color line. VERY useful for identifying loose threads, cool to help design things, wonderful to show you what the pattern calls for -- so you can find a substitute already in your stash... the uses for these cards goes on and on.

Included is full information about solids, variegated metallics and rayons in the Perle Cottons, Light Effects, Satin Flosses, and Cotton Floss lines. This is an Organizer's Dream!!!

Color Variations Sets
It seems DMC has really focused on special collections of their Light Effects threads recently -- offered in color-coordinated sets. An excellent way for you to obtain ALL the colors in this limited fibre range, the threads are lovely, and really quite different from others on the Market.

DMC has grouped color ranges together, and included cross stitch, embroidery and punch needle patterns in each set for it's particular color selection.

June 2007 Color Variations Set from DMCWe already had the Precious Metals, Glow-in-the Dark Pearlescents....etc... and now are offered three new sets in this line of threads! Classical Blends includes 6 metallics, Blended Favorites features 6 more, that I think complement the first 6 colors, and Tropical Glow... six lip-puckering flourescent-looking bright colors.

Offered in boxed sets of 6 skeins each (12 in the Color Variations set), these are available as sets only -- which actually makes them easier to actually USE! Very fun colors... our web pics really can't capture the glistening metallic highlights, or the holographic play of light these have!

Here are two new sets of six-strand cotton floss by DMC. What makes them new and special is that DMC has varied color in each skein. Simulating hand-dying... kind of a variegation thing... each color has 2 or 3 different shades in it, changing every 4-inches or so. Softly changing colors, they are packaged as two different color sets -- a lighter Tropical set and a deeper, more brilliant set.

The Tropical colors come with 10 charts of florals to stitch. The Deeper Brilliants come with 90 charts of leaves, shells, fruits and vegetables, flowers and butterflies... all calling for these specific colors. Something fun to try and cool to have in your stash... I imagine designers will choose some for upcoming designs! Each boxed set contains the 12-Skein set, and its set of charts.
