This is the alphabetical listing of hand-dyed Sampler Threads offered by The Gentle Art. Available in 5-yard skeins -- 5 one-yard lengths of thread in each skein -- these have been overyded with soft and rich coordinating shades of color to give your stitching such an interesting edge.
Gentle Art stresses that their overdyed threads ARE colorfast if you follow the label directions before stitching with them. They recommend a simple soaking in cool water to remove any residual dye... and a quick 'hang to dry.' $2.25 each.
To make your selections, just fill in the number of skeins you want in the little boxes, scroll down to the bottom of this section, and hit the submit button to have them added to your cart.
At the bottom of this page, you will find the seasonal and limited release sets.

Hand-Dyed 'Simply Wool' Thread Joining The Gentle Art's line of Simply Wools, are Ohio Lemon Pie and Cidermill Brown. Luscious, thin, single ply wool yarn, perfect for cross stitch, your stitching will take on a whole new texture and elegant look when you use this thread! Wait till you run your fingers over these soft, silky woolen strands! They are exquisite! Soft, thin wool -- just like Medici used to be -- you can use these in all the same places you'd use cottons or silks. They do well in Punch Needle, stitched as animals and other furry things in your needlework, they love primitive stitching on wool felt... just everything. Offered in 10yd skeins, it is a single-ply thread, so it does work on 32ct linen. There are 20 colors in the Simply Wool line -- we have them all! Open stock runs $3.00 each.

Gentle Art's February 2010 Set of 6 New CottonsWe just never seem to have enough browns... so this release should fill in lots of empty spaces in the shading area. Brick Path has red and gray browns, Carrot is the bright orange in the set, Espresso Bean is the very dark brown/black, Moonlit Path is a pale gray, Piney Woods is a deep moss and brown combination, and Vintage Lace is a creme/beige with hints of pink.

Gentle Art February 2010 Simply Wools, Set of 7 New ColorsThese are yummy! They fit together with wools we already have, so you have lots more shading depth in the line. Erica Michaels likes these for 30ct Silk Gauze work, and they look GREAT in soft, antique samplers on the hand-dyed linens. Color names follow their cottons.. Chives is a medium green, Claret is the rich red, Gingersnap is a light, warm brown, Grecian Gold is a mustardy gold, Hyacinth is that pretty medium lavender, Morning Glory is the light blue, and Raspberry Frost is a very light brown with light mauve undertones. The whole set is pretty together!

Gentle Art's February 2010 Limited Edition CottonsA trio of very pretty colors... we have Mixed Berry -- a rosy pink, Mocha Icing -- a warm brown, and Toasted Almond -- a light clay color. Available for a short time, until our sets sell out!

Gentle Art's Southwestern Set of FlossesAnother new collection of threads that is bagged together, and not offered singly in their regular line, these are always fun, limited editions, even the names are fun! Margarita is a pale green, Sagebrush is a very pale purple. Cactus is a very dark green, Spanish Rice is that awesome burnt orange in there, Desert Bloom is the medium purple, and Black Bean Salsa is the wild black with areas of yellow and orange in there. (That one might be a real challenge to use... but it's fun to look at!) Normally, a set of 6 threads runs $13.50... but the bagged sets are always offered to us at a promo price!

June 2009 New Sampler Threads! The Gentle Art has sent us some pretty new overdyed flosses... 'ya 'gotta 'get 'em! 4 New cottons... Autumn Leaves, Chives, Sunflower and Raspberry Frost. We hang these in alphabetical order on our shop rack, and we *groaned* today when one of the new colors was an A, followed by a C! (We have to reposition everything on the rack!!!) BUT...BUT... it' worth it! Soft and sandy colors, the sunflower is bold, but the rest are dusty shades of colors already in the line, so shading possibilities are great!
Then... BACKYARD BLOOMS debuts! An collection of six threads that are not sold separately or in the regular GAST line... they are presented in this format because they are proto-type colors... iffy dye-lots... or something fun the dye-pot produced on a particularly curious day!!! Garden colors of pinks, greens and browns -- English Ivy, Peony, Silver Mound, Coral Bells, Snapdragon, and Cypress Mulch... you get six skeins for the price of about five! Blooms of curious creativity!!!
