VERY much in Barbara's design style, this 7 x 7-1/2 inch band sampler is loaded with all her favorite stitches of Holbein, Palestrina Knots, Rices and Smyrnas, Mosaics and slants... 4-Sided... you name it. The berries are actually little stitched circles of beads stacked and stacked... so it makes you want to pick one and eat it! Stitching is the Berries Sewing TinThis is the main sewing tin from this three-kit set of designs... the tin, needlebook, scissor sheath and fob... all with a strawberry theme stitched is LUSCIOUS berry red and leaf green silks! Periwinkle Promises is delivering a nifty 5 x 6 x 1-1/4 tin that has STITCHABLE SIDES!!! You work the pretty band sampler on top with silks on 28ct linen -- the berries are all bead clusters, too, and then add a few stitches on the perforated metal sides! Stitching is the Berries Needle Book I just love this kind of thing! Periwinkle brings us a matching needle book for the Berries Tin. It features the same gorgeous and rich berry-red silks, the same glisteny beaded berry clusters, and super 'lumpy' Rhodes hearts -- you can't help but run your fingers over all the stitching! Front and back are both decorated with your lovely stitches, and inside, our eyes are treated to a tiny 'mattress' that is also a pin keeper! Finishing approx 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 when folded closed, the complete kit contains all the silks, beads, linens, matching lining fabrics and instructions. Frosty CelebrationHere's a delightful snowman stitched on 36ct linen in silks and metallics of red, black, gray and silver metallic!!! The top of the snowman is normal... but look at his tummy... its a study of 'whitework' -- only it's a soft gray silk presented in a band sampler format of Satin and specialty stitches.  Fruits & Flowers Sheaths, Fobs and Needlecases! Periwinkle Promises has 5 sets of sculpted scissor cases, with tiny matching scissor fobs and needle cases! Miniature band samplers full of fun, special stitches... each is offered as the complete kit of 28ct Glasgow Linen, silks, charts and finishing instructions. The kits for the Scissor Sheath (fit standard 3-1/2 embroidery scissors) include the (2 x 2) Fob design as well, are are offered separately from the Needlecase (2 x 3) design -- that fully opened-- finishes approx 3 x 5. Lining fabrics inside each kit match their counterpart... so all three pieces in your set will go together! Small projects that finish into something useful; we have colored-handled scissors (available individually) that look great inside the scissor sheaths! Fun, functional, and finishable...  Tulip SamplerHere's a smaller version of Barbara's samplers... a great one to begin with, if you aren't familiar with all her specialty stitches! A wonderful value, too!!! Offered as either the kit of 28ct Natural Cashel Linen with 10 shades of grape, dusty blue and soft green silks, or just the chart, this finishes approx 4 x 6. You get lots of Double Running, Queen, Three-Sided, Smryna, Mosaic... all fun stitches... but not too many of them, that you're overwhelmed! Pretty colors, nice balance, neat stitch details in that tulip row close to the bottom... and finally a big finish with rows and rows of Queen Stitches!!! Tulip Sampler is new, small and very affordable. We may want to highlight those facts on her page somehow. This would be a GREAT piece for anyone to try... if the others are too intimidating. | |||||
 Queen's Rose Garden SamplerA pink and green study in Queen Stitches and Double Running... this petite 7 x 8 piece is stitched on 28ct linen in silks (if you get the kit) or flosses ( if you borrow from your stash!) The first step in this sampler says to stitch 5 rows of Queen Stitches all the way around! (That's like one of those recipes for chicken salad that tells you to peel 1000 green grapes and slice them! The first step seems to take YEARS!!!) Then, move onto the Padded Rhodes hearts and all the Diagonal, Italian, and Smyrna Crosses... but be careful counting!  My Acorn Garden SamplerThis is a luscious piece that features a generous band of Whitework right across the center! Lots of Double Running, Rice, Long Armed -- those type of stitches -- all lead up to the white area that is full of Satin, Wrapped Back Stitch, Alternating Double Back and Diagonal Crosses. Exquisite texture!!! Next... come all the little acorns (that are red and Burgundy! Padded Satin nuts with little Arrowhead Stitched tops. The main flower is worked in several different stitches, and features a French Knot center. Lots going on in here... this piece measures just 6-1/2 x 8-1/2 on 28ct linen!  Bluefield SamplerThis ones goes with the Blueberry Needle Book, and matches the smaller scissor sheath and fob design set! Now... read the verse... 'I already know my alphabet!' Finishing approx 7 x 8 on 28ct linen, it's a good thing you already know the alphabet... because you'll be busy stitching the Queen Stitched border, Spider Web Roses, and the intricate Double Running band near the bottom.  Spring Bouquet CelebrationThis is simply a beautiful cross-stitched piece done in vibrant yellow and purple silks, with lots of green and light caramel shading! Offered as a kit on 32ct Belfast linen, the whole piece is cross-stitched, except the largest leaves in the background. They feature a pattern of long and short straight stitches. Nothing hard at all... it just add a different dimension, and makes the leaves seem long and smooth! Finishing approx 5 x 6, this is a striking piece! | |||||
 Stork Scissors Accessory Book Pins & Needles, Spools and Scissors... this linen case will hold all those precious things - except the spools! Offered as the chart, you are able to customize your colors for this 5 x 5 (when closed) case. A few Smyrnas, Satins and Rhodes Heart stitches decorate the outside, while the inside features all the cool little pages and such. Notice the types of needles on the left. The Sharps page is the smallest, Embroidery page is larger... all the way down to the Tapestry page. On the right side, that mattress is so cool! The largest one, the most challenging to find, measures approx 4 x 8, and the matching smaller ones are the readily available 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 and 1-1/2 x 3 sizes.  Wrought Iron Garden SamplerOhhh, this is a lush study in Blackwork -- all stitched to resemble the wrought iron decoration and fence around your gardens!!! The main border is stitched in Navy silk, while the garden in the center is worked in lighter blues, soft greens and berry reds. *If you don't like doing Double Running... don't buy this!!!* It'll drive you NUTS! I, on the other hand, love this kind of thing... so I say -- Go for it! Palestrina Knots, Montenegrins, all sorts of Four-Sided and diagonal stitches, along with all the padded stitches in here... there are acorn caps of solid French Knots! This is an incredibly beautiful piece that you might LOVE to stitch... or even hate to think about working!!!  Strawberry Feast SamplerFeast your fingers to this stitching treat! Delicious berry colors of silks on 28ct White Glasgow Linen create all the exquisite stitches (well, actually YOU do that part!) and texture in this piece. Tons of Queens, Double Running, all the satins and angled crosses... the strawberries are ultra-padded -- approx 1/4 inch in height!  The berry blossoms in the top row are actually separate petals you stitch, cut out and then apply onto the main piece. Lots to keep you busy with this one, it measures approx 6 x 8. As with the rest of PP's samplers. this is offered as a kit or chart. Her kits all feature Glasgow Linen, because it is a heavier fabric than the Cashels and Belfasts.  Acorns All Around SamplerNothing is as strong as gentleness, or as gentle as strength. Another exquisite piece... again, we are treated to lots of Double Running, Queens, lots of Smyrnas with straight stitches on top to form flowers, and pretty padded Rhodes hearts. Stitched on 28ct White Glasgow, this finishes approx 8-1/2 x 11. The theme is acorns -- but the colors are pinks and greens. Personally, I'd change those pinks to coppers and rusts... and work burgundy colors into the flowers and hearts. Pretty balance, this is offered as the kit or chart. | |||||

Lisianthus & Rosebud Accessory Pockets from Periwinkle Promises This is a pair of kits... basically the same construction... just different stitches and colors, that finish into small tri-folds to hold your Clover Cutter and Threader!!! Each kit includes the 28ct Natural Linen, silks in six colors, a coordinating wool felt needle 'page', and 12 pages of special stitches, finishing instructions, and a general overview of the front and back of each case! When these are finished they fold up to a mere 2 x 2 inches... and hide your precious cutter and threader! Both the inside and outside have stitching on each of the three leaves, too!
