Pumpkin Farm and St. Noel
Brenda Gervais has two new cross stitch designs that are just like no others! I wish this verse were charted... (It is in the package... and I bet you could chart it), and add it to this piece! 'Jolly Wolly pumpkin head, you're happy, tell us why? 'I'd rather be a pumpkin head than a pumpkin pie!' What a fun little farm scene with that big blackbird flying over the sunflowers! Stitched in regular DMC flosses, this finishes approx 8 x 8-1/2 on 32ct. St Noel has a Pennsylvania Dutch feel to me... and his pattern comes with complete finishing instructions and full-sized template for that cute Ditty Pocket. (Brenda *even* tells you how to age the sheet music tucked into the pocket!) St Noel measures approx 4 x 7, and offers a great finishing presentation. Large printed charts, these are beautifully presented in full color.
|
Sewing Bird Pin Keep
Brenda Gervais has a charming new primitive heart design that is stitched over one thread on 28ct, and then finished into a stuffed heart. She shows it perched atop an antique oil can, but a neat old thread spool would be cool, just anything you could use as a stand. Simple Cross Stitches, she even gives you the instructions to make the little wool strawberry hanging on this! (It calls for a rusty safety pin to attach it!) Anyway, just a neat application for your needlework... I could see lots of smaller things finished like this -- a creative way to display! Heart Pin keep finishes approx 7 inches tall, offered as the chart with instructions.

All is Calm and Pumpkin Keeper
Well, Spring is here... but golly, these new Punch Needle designs are SO COOL... I couldn't just wait on them and show them to you next September!!! All is Calm is presented on a huge piece of stamped Weaver's Cloth... his design is contemporary, colorful, and I just LOVE those antlers!!! He finishes approx 6-1/2 x 5-/12. Pumpkin Keeper is neat too. She's gardening in her pumpkin patch... I don't think you can see in the pic, but the pumpkin is really a smiling Jack-o-lantern! Fraktur-inspired motifs, this is finished into a pumpkin-shaped stand-up -- complete with REAL pumpkin stem!!!!! What an awesome way to finish and display your needlework! (Brenda has a cross-stitched pumpkin, as well.) All of her new things are so neat... we have 4 more below.
|
Frozen Frosty
Punch Needle a snowman who won't melt!!! Nine inches in size, this little guy will be so much fun to punch, because your overdyed white color will really give him depth. The instructions include templates for his felt hat and his little scarf is simply a scrap of wool or fabric you've had in your stash. Very Cute!
|
Bittersweet & Boo
This is a darling black cat, complete with GHOST ghourd pail! Only 5-1/2 inches tall... you might have to work at keeping the finished kitty away from YOUR kitty! Prestamped onto Weaver's Cloth.
|
Christmas Stamp
I thought this was a fun offering... what a cute snowman... he finished only about 3 x 3, so he'd make a great tree ornament. A very easy design to work, this would be a good beginning piece, because the areas are large in shape. Wouldn't he be cute in cross stitch???!
|
Indian Summer
Quite a lavish vase of late summer blossoms, this punches a generous 4 x 8. The three center flowers could almost be antique buttons instead of punching, they would look awesome tacked onto this tiny penny-rug inspired piece! Offered as the design pre-stamped onto the Weaver's cloth. (Not to be confused with #116 Indian Summer!)
|
Miss Lapin
With Thy Needle has a new pattern that is a bunny-shaped alphabet sampler! Joining our cool collection of her other sampler shapes (we have acorns, hearts, cats, a bird, miniature pineapple and even a tiny owl!) this is such a charming way to finish your needlework! Stitched on 28ct Antique Ivory Cashel linen in Weeks and DMC flosses, over one thread, she finishes into a 7-3/4 inch standing bunny! See her holding her flower basket? She is shown tea-stained... and you can 'dress' her with a bit of antique lace from an old hankie. Her 'fluffy' tail is actually a cluster of old buttons that could be special ones from your stash! So, so neat, this is offered as the chart, with full-sized template for Ms Lapin's shapely figure!
|
Home Tweet Home
A delightful little Punch Needle design... this little guy punches into a 3-1/2 inch bird. He is perched atop an antique oil can, which might be harder to find, than the punching is to do! Offered as the design stamped onto weaver's cloth, his tummy has a picture of a house, with gardens of lavish vines. What a cute finishing idea! Brenda did our little sampler bird like this... so take a look, if you want a cross-stitched bird instead of a punch needle one!
|
Merry & Bright
Here's a primitive Santa... kind of larger than life (looking at the house and resident snowman!) But... I guess that's how we all remember Santa to be from years ago, when we couldn't wait for him to come!!! Part of the charm of this cross stitch design are all the dis-proportionate shapes and sizes that fill the spaces. The colors are simple DMC, the fabric is 28ct Platinum Cashel, and finished size runs approx 4 x 5. The chart inside this package is AWESOME! It is a full color chart, printed on an 11x 15 piece of paper... it's so pretty that I want to just hang it on my wall like a poster! There are even instructions included to coffee-dye
your Santa to make him grungy and mangy -- to match those grungy and mangy black candles in his sack!!! Offered as the chart.

Happy Halloween
With Thy Needle's Brenda Gervais has released three new cross stitch designs that are MOST primitive in feel, QUITE full of personalty, and one-of-kind little works of artsy-fartsy-ness!!! ( I love 'em!) Happy Halloween has a little witch sitting with her broom... only I don't think it wants to fly! She looks too timid! I remember growing up, just loving my Joan Walsh Anglund books -- this girl reminds me of those little girls in my old storybooks! Offered as a chart, the actual CHART is lovely -- huge and full color on an 11 x 17 sheet! DMC's, Belfast linen... finished size is approx 8 x 5... wouldn't it be cute over one?
|
Sampler *THINGS*
Here is a trio of very simple, primitive sampler designs that is finished so creatively! Offered as three individual charts, each one is on the small side, but assembled into endearing little shapes! Welcome Sampler is a pineapple -- its stitched on 25ct in regular DMC floss -- and finishes a mere 3-1/2 inches tall (before its leaf top.) ABC Pinkeep is a bird, perched on an old Singer Sewing Machine oil can. (You may have to get creative when you're out searching for your bird base!) A 4 x 3 sampler bird, its stitched in DMC flosses as well, and is holding a small wool strawberry in its mouth -- instructions include that template, too. Finally, Gathering Acorns features the sampler bottom and a fabric cap. Stitch count on the acorn is a little bigger than its counterparts -- 88 x 99, so you may want to stitch all three on the same OR different fabrics. I just love the idea of stitching these tiny pieces, and then finishing them into the various shapes. What a cool, unique way to treat your needlework! What lovely things to tuck into a medley of samplers. You could actually use them as pin cushions -- very untraditional ones, at that! All are offered in chart format with finishing instructions and actual sized shape templates.
|
Miss Snow Fairy
Well... I'm not sure if I've ever seen a snowlady fairy before! If you have trouble with that... change the head and wings! Finishes approx 6 x 6 on 36ct, luscious DMC colors of the 640's, 3011's, touches of 3776... just really muted, mangy and antique-y, yummy colors!
|
Cat Tricks
What a little Fat-So! Wouldn't this be cute on the front of a Halloween Tote that holds Trick Or Treat candy at work????? At 110 stitches square, choose your fabric for a bag, or somethuing smaller. Either way, you're going to need more skeins of 3776 -- the main pumpkin body color. CUTE! Offered as a chart.
|
Friendship Samplers
This is a collection of 6 petite samplers -- just enchanting! Offered in a chart-pack, each 60 x 70-ish piece is charted in color on it's own page, using regular DMC flosses. Simple designs, very traditional, small and quick to stitch, you can execute these on almost any fabric you wish! Our Flanged Tin Frame (opening is 2-3/4 x 2-7/8 with hanger on the back that works either direction) is perfect for any of them stitched over one on 25, 28, 30 or 32ct... so you can see that this is quite a versatile set of miniature samplers!
|

It's a Hoot

Flag Day

stem to this!

Finishing approx 4-1/2 x 7-1/4, these are so darn cute!
|

Feather Your Nest
Another one full of brilliant, moving color, this is such a classic
primitive, this finishes approx 5 x 7.
|
Love Letters & Chocolate Bunnies
Two new "Sampler Things" as I like to call them... Brenda Gervais has a precious new sampler that is finished into a little stuffed heart! Stitched on 28ct linen in DMC flosses, simple letters and tiny motifs are stitched, and then she gives you directions to further distress your stitching with coffee staining! Simple instructions to sew into a heart shape... you'll want to find an old, dirty key lying around somewhere -- that adds lots of charm! Chocolate Bunnies is the same idea -- the eggs finish a turbo seven inches high!! Such simple ideas, not much stitching... but along with her acorns, cats, sampler bird and little pineapple.. I think these are SO cute and unique! Display them in an old wood bowl!
|

Speckled Eggs
One of With Thy Needle's three newest punch needle designs, this one is a little egg basket! A 4 x 4 punched area of a chocolate bunny in the
garden, you can back it, and finish it like a tiny basket to hold one very special egg! Offered as the design stamped onto weaver's.
Labor of Love
Farmers in the Spring Garden!!! Finishes approx 5-1/2 x 6-1/4.
Easter Egg Hunt
Charming Bunny Family beneath the spring trellis of vines! Finishes approx
4-1/2 x 7-1/2.
|
Jack-O-Cat
One of Brenda's two newest punch needle designs, this fat black cat is all dressed up in his Halloween costume, ready to Trick or Treat!! Offered as the line design pre-stamped onto weaver's cloth, he finishes a whopping 6-1/2 x 9-1/2 inches. Great colors, the pattern shows him finished into small wool rug. Horn of Plenty, the other new design *feels* like a companion to me... its a Thanksgiving piece. Horn of Plenty -- A Harvest Cornucopia
The companion to Jack-O-Cat, another 6 x 9-ish oval punched in over-the-top
lovely shades of overdyeds. Offered as the design pre-stamped onto a very
generously-sized cut of weaver's cloth.
|

Black Cat Sampler
Well, if this isn't the cutest thing! Your kitty is stitched on Weeks Dye Works 30ct Onyx hand-dyed linen in shades of DMC floss. The pattern then calls for you to coffee stain it, and bake it in the oven, REALLY! (Gives it a more distressed look!!!) Anyway, simple stitching, the pattern provides the actual-sized template of the cat-shape pillow, and tiny wool hat. Just so cool and different, kitty measures approx 12 inches when finished! Offered as the chart with templates for finishing. Tricks & TreatsDarling, your cheerful pumpkin-witch is keeping out of the way of that *ferocious* black cat! Stitched in DMC flosses, you coffee stain this when finished to give it a time-worn look. Stitch count is 97 x 120, so size will vary depending on your fabric choices. Offered as a chart, I think its just a fun little piece!
|

Spring Tyme Sampler
With Thy Needle & Thread's Brenda Gervais is finally branching out into cross stitch!!! She's a wonderful quilt and punch-needle designer -- one of my personal favorites -- and now has introduced two new cross stitch designs, as well as 4 more punch needle pieces!
Spring Tyme is a totally primitive alphabet piece... spindly letters, a few scattered motifs, mustard, khaki, drab brown and blue green DMC flosses... she includes instructions for coffee-dying the finished piece, BAKING it till it's dry, and then final pressing, for a totally mangy look! Stitched on 28ct linen, it finishes approx 6 x 8, and is charming!!!
Now for the fun part... you can tell those quilters apart from us cross stitchers, because WE'D buy the pre-finished hornbook board for mounting. SHE gives *full instructions* all the way from cutting the pine with a band saw, through sanding and whittling with a Dremel tool, painting, faux finishing, staining, and finally rubbing ground cinnamon onto the board with your hands! (she does, however, leave out instructions for cutting down the tree in the forest, to collect your wood!) I absolutely loved reading all those finishing
instructions, but as a cross stitcher, I'm off to start my NEXT project
when this one is stitched! (I wish I lived next door to Martha
Stewart!) I love the design, which is offered as the chart, with those
incredible instructions!
|
Gardener's Pocket
Brenda's second new cross stitch design, this fat little bunny -- undoubtedly full, after eating out of your garden -- reminds you to plant his little bag of new seeds this Spring!!!
Stitched on anything you like, the complete finishing instructions describe lining fabrics to use, old buttons to get, and guides you through the coffee dying process to get the old and mangy look!!! Offered as a chart, this uses good ol' DMC floss!
|

Signs of Spring
A bunny in the flower patch! Finishes approx 5 inches round.
Briar Patch
Awesome Valdani colors, very primitive! Finishes approx 5 x 5-1/2.
|
Lady Liberty and Stars & SamI love this old fashioned look in a patriotic theme! Reminds me of 'Faded Glory' and summertime, ice cream and fireworks!!! Brenda Gervais has 5 new punch designs... a Springtime and two Christmas, along with these two... all offered as the design stamped onto weaver's cloth, ready to
punch. Liberty and Sam are approx 5 x 5 each, and punched in gorgeous burgundy, denim, cream and taupe colors. Her finishing is cool, too, as it is a distressed wooden paddle to hang on the wall. Find a fun shape, get some really grungy crackle-paint, a little sandpaper for extra grunge, and your paddle will look great!
|
 |
Snow Fairy
She's an angel punched in sage greens, aged white, and dark reds! Finishes approx 5 x 5-1/2. SnowboundFinishes approx 4-1/2 x 6-1/2, just a couple of snowmen out for evening!!! Choose a neat blue-black overdyed for that night sky, and
consider a touch of opalescent mixed in with your star color.
Tulip Time
A Spring Bunny tending the blooms -- for a future meal? Change the dress
color is the blue seems too bright... Finishes approx 4-1/2 x 6.
|
 |
Liberty
Charming old Uncle Sam is here... he finishes approx 4 x 5, very primitive in flavor. His beard has been fluffed a little, they suggest wool roving and a felting needle, but you could punch with Medici or Wisper and fluff to get the same effect. Great colors and a neat subject!
Pumpkin HollowHuge pumpkin patch complete with black cat, this finishes a whopping 4-1/2 x 7! An arch shape, it's kind of hard to see against the painted paddle it's finished on.
First Thanksgiving
Finishing approx 4-1/2 x 5-1/2, I love the little turkey down there in with
the pumpkins! Definitely the companion to Pumpkin Hollow.
Boo Cat
My personal favorite, I think the whole alphabet thing behind the cat, and
the pumpkin-pot of flowers! Finishes approx 6-1/4 x 5-1/4.
|
 |
Moonlight Skate
A fat snowman skating in the moonlight! He's holding the moon! Finishes
approx 4-1/2 x 6. Three Lit'l MittensThree darling little mitten designs, perfect for ornaments, each is presented on it's OWN piece of weaver's cloth. The models are topped with a simple length of fluffy yarn. Santa's FarmSanta is readying the reindeer! Finishes approx 5 x 5.
|
 |
Christmas in the Country
Santa and the sheep -- looks like they're in the middle of a blizzard! Finishes approx 5 x 5, you'll need dusky blue overdyeds for the sky, and taupes for the sheep!
Treats for Tricksters
Quite a dramatic piece, this punches approx 4 x 5-1/2. The overdyed colors
seem to contour -- they follow the outlines of that grand cat, and the
pumpkin man. Very festive for Halloween!
She Seeketh Wool
Finishing approx 5 x 6, this is a gentle shepherdess pic, with stylized
flowers gracing the background. Very Charming, a touch of Country French!
Have Ye Any Wool
The classic, complacent sheep... he's elegant against his burgundy and
persimmon background... and the teal/denim penny rug details around him
look like his show ribbons! Have Ye finishes approx 3 x 4-1/2.

Special Delivery
With Thy Needle & Thread has released 4 new Punch Needle designs that are very old-fashioned in flavor and very charming! Special Delivery features the Easter Bunny delivering a wagon-load of Spring Flowers! Offered as the design stamped onto Weaver's Cloth, you need to add your own threads from that ever-growing stash you have! A Note: Three of the four new designs require Valdani Brand thread. I've not brought it in as a new product at Silver Needle... so you (or we!) get to be creative and choose our own favorite colors and threads for these pieces. The overdyed choices we have are endless... color is NOT a problem!!! Dear AdelFinishes approx 4-1/2 x 5-1/4. Brenda writes this about the pattern... 'This pattern is in honor of Adel Fisher my grandmother, whom was called "Grammy" by her 21 grandchildren. As a small child, one of my fondest memories was getting to go to the chicken house and gather eggs with her. As we entered the chicken house she always whispered in her soft
Grammy voice, "Shhh, don't scare the chickens!"
Mr Cotton Tail
Finishes approx 5 x 5

Winter Fun
Wow... this is only one of 4 new releases by With Thy Needle and Thread for Punch Needle... they are all so good, I had a hard time choosing only one for my Just Arrived Page!! Artist Brenda Gervais brings us a small medley of ornaments or pins -- featured here is the snowman set, Winter Fun.
MAKE SURE to look at the rest... Autumn Bounty is a pair of pumpkins and a turkey, Folky Pins are general year-round designs, and Parson Brown is a snowman-building scene!
Anyhow... quite a favorite designer in the Punch Needle World... Brenda is treating us to three designs, you'll need to trace onto the weaver's cloth, punched in overdyeds, and then mounted onto our favorite Finishing Forms by Flying Needles! Each of the three ornament sets contains the three designs and three necessary forms, along with pin back findings. These are PERFECT small punch designs -- very nice designs!
|
Folky Pins A round, oval and rectangle trio of designs... each is punched in overdyeds and mounted around the provided finishing form! Too Easy!!! You do need to trace the designs on the provided weaver's cloth, but your results will be worth the extra 5 minutes of nuisance!
|
 Autumn Bounty
Wow... great colors, design balance, and WHO can resist that funky little turkey???! Same format as Winter Fun and Folky Pins... you get the weaver's cloth and outlines that you'll need to trace onto the
cloth. Package includes the rectangular and round finishing forms for
mounting... this set is CHARMING!
|
 Parson Brown
Building that snowman in the meadow, 'pretending that he is Parson Brown...' this little scene is so nostalgic in feel... you just HAVE to punch it!! Offered as the design already stamped onto the weaver's cloth, the floss colors used are REGULAR DMC colors -- I was really surprised to discover that, as overdyeds are the norm!
Very nicely done...

 |
I've chosen five new With Thy Needle & Threads new Punch Needle designs to highlight... because I just plain love them!!! Pictured at the right is only one because we couldn't fit them all on our Just Arrived Page. Offered as the stamped outline on weavers cloth, each is punched using regular DMC flosses and the 3-strand needle of your choice. (Needles, frames and hoop choices are all on the Punch Needle pages -- there are several options, varying in price ranges of $2.75 to $70.)
A really nice collection of patterns... Brenda Gervais, the designer of With Thy Needle, does a great job with color and design. Check these out! That St Noel looks like a miniature hooked rug to me.
|
|
This is a charming collection of primitive designs from With Thy Needle & Thread (a division of Country Stitches) that have a bit of elegance in them to me! All in the neighborhood of the 4 to 5-inch finished size, each pattern is offered already stamped onto the weavers cloth. Pretty, soft and dusty colors, they are miniature works of punched art!
|
|
|
A set of new designs from Country Stitches, a quilt company. Sweet Peas is one of my favorites. Offered as the stamped outline on weavers cloth... what makes this line charming, is the extra step of tea-dying your finished project to add 'distressed color!' Although these recommend a Cameo brand punchneedle... our Igolochkoy or CTR brands will do the trick! All are punched with regular DMC flosses... bet you could add some overdyeds, if you'd like! Finished sizes range from 3-1/2 to 5 inches for all. Although the tea-dye process will do nothing for your black background on Sweet Peas... it will add tons of character to that little bunny!!! What a nice twist!
